Prisoners go to work

Summer floods in Poland and winter heavy snow. What those two situation have in common? Yes – natural phenomenon. But also: Polish prisoners. What? – You might ask.

During flooding thousands of prisoners were working on water banks and helping people to repair their houses. Recently in many cities we have been able to witness detainees removing snow from our streets. Those are most noticeable examples.

Every day and every year a quarter of approximately 80 thousand of those who were put into Polish prisons works inside their walls. 4,300 works outside. Hospice, social services, public offices of different kinds or forest – there are many places where they find a job.

They work because they want to, not because they have to – underlines officials from Centralny Zarząd Służby Więziennej.

Why is it so important? Work can play a fundamental role in providing valuable skills and qualifications that help prisoners get a job once they are released. Law says that working is an important measure to achieve goals of resocialisation and preparation for a life after leaving walls of detention centers.

Availability of resources, security, control measures and type of commited crime impacts type of work in each prison. There are many types of work available e.g. in industrial workshops and/or land-based activity units.

Prisoners who work in such units can perform varied type of work which can provide skills in different areas, such as: “textiles, engineering, woodwork, printing, data entry, plastic moulding, component assembly, computer aided design, desk top publishing and employment offering practical training in rural activities, fresh produce production, protected cropping, amenity horticulture and landscaping leading to formal qualifications1”. Jeśli nie pana musi być z cudzysłowiu, adres nie wystarczyThose who can not work outside prison walls usually are employed in catering, cleaning or building maintenance.

Rates of pay vary depending on resources, the amount and type of work available at each prison, but maximal pay for a prisoner cannot be higher than half of minimal wage (it's approximately 500 zł per month) According to data from 2009 average pay for an hour of work for detainees was 4,30 zł/per hour.

In his latest sentence, Constitutional Tribunal, find that lowering wage of prisoners is illegal due to Constitution. Soon, prisoners will be able to earn normal pay for their normal work.

Such limitation has functioned from 1997, when administration recognized that, detainees have to be paid less, to limit the cost of work for companies that employ them.

Argument for that kind of restriction was also the fact that criminals don't pay for their living in jails (ex. water, food etc.).

Let's discuss!
Do you agree with Constitutional Tribunal verdict?
Should prisoners pay for their „accommodation”?
If a prisoner works in normal conditions, why should they be pay less, for the same work as „free” people? Do you agree?

Winter of complaints in Poland

Sudden Attack of winter in recent days completely surprised drivers and of course Polish municipal services responsible for removing snow. Traffic jams, damaged trams, delayed trains and late buses were common in last two weeks.

Lot of people were late to work, school, home. So did I. When I was standing on a cold tram (yes, the heating was damaged), becoming more frozen, some reflection came into my mind.

The tram was stuck in the longest traffic jam I have ever seen. After the tram driver opened the doors to let passengers walk through the snow and snowdrifts, I took my camera and started to shoot photos. For me all situation was quite funny and interesting, although I knew I would be late for work (If You want to see my photos, check: http://www.gadu-gadu.pl/5546370258653390840/warszawa-tramwajowy-korek-gigant).

Other people were angry, some say that if the local elections were in Warsaw during first winter days, Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz would never have won. Another guy replied saying that all snow would be removed.

Nevertheless, the elections were a few day ago when the weather was nice and sunny so we are not able to check what would happen if we were to cast our votes during winter days. And still the winter is a kind of natural cataclysm for most of Poles.

So I asked my foreign friends from Norway and Finland how they cope with winter. Hege, from Norway, says that Norwegian take winter as something natural. They got used to poor driving conditions, colder weather and so on.
- You in Poland have to think about winter as something normal, and to bear in mind that it's not a summer when driving is easier.

But Livie, from Finland, says - well we also complaint about winter, first
days of snowing are always harder, but well it's winter. Think about a lot of
nice things that you can do when there is so much snow! Skiing, sleighing , and
running through the snow!

That strikes me a lot. Are we the nation of complainers who can never see a bright side of life? Is it the heritage of communism era or national feature? Discuss!

Free party is not a crime – or is it?

Part 3 – Police clashes

Since the times of the Spiral Tribe, free parties have been attracting police interventions. There are several reasons for that. A view of a free party with its huge wall of speakers and people dancing to loud and repetitive music is often beyond the comprehension abilities of people who never saw such view before. Police often looks for a person in charge to get to know what is going on. Usually policemen do not believe that there is no organisation cell at such party and that all members contribute equally to the fact that the party takes place. Reactions are different – sometimes police stops the party, arrests some of its participants, confiscates the sound system's equipment. Some argue that the level of loudness is much too high; they claim that they receive complains from the villages near the party. Sometimes, they just watch the party from a distance with a plan to intervene if something is happening. Some policemen notice that the atmosphere at the party is friendly and there is no need to act with aggression to stop it, others don't.

Police brutality at Czechtek teknival 2005

A well known free tekno track

Problems to discuss:
1. Do you think that the legal regulations (eg. in Poland) should be changed in a way that would totally ban free parties?
2. Can you think of any ways in which a free party could be beneficial to both its participants and people from the outside? Or do you think it causes losses of any kind?

Cloud computing

Have you heard about cloud computing? Probably yes, but you thought it was very complicated and only available to large companies? Wrong! Cloud computing is ideal for small projects, especially start-ups that have the potential to develop but at the beginning do not have the appropriate budget.

Amazon, the company famous for the largest online store in the world, based on its huge base of hardware and knowledge, provides cloud solutions for everyone. The service, called Amazon Web Services (AWS), allows us to host applications in any programming language and with any configuration we need. Amazon puts at our disposal the EC2 service, which gives us full access to resources of a dedicated server with root privileges. So we can install any operating system and configure it freely. We don't have to rest at a single server. The potential of cloud computing is scalability. We can run any number of server instances with the same or a different configuration. Amazon puts in our hands the tools for automatic starting and stopping instances, depending on current traffic or load.

Undoubtedly the most popular AWS service is however S3 (Simple Storage Service). This service allows us to store any number of files in the cloud. The only limitation of this service is a file size of up to 5 TB. Such a high limit can be taken to be a lack of limits by which S3 is great for bloggers, graphic designers, webmasters and really anyone on the Internet. The service can even be used as a backup disk with a copy of your most important files or your entire operating system.

You may wonder, where's the catch? Nowhere, but the service is not for free. The bottom line is, however, that we pay only for what we actually use. So we pay for every second of the exact use of the server rather than in advance for the whole year as is the case in most hosting companies. At S3 we also pay only for the amount of space used and generated traffic. For more information, refer to AWS: http://aws.amazon.com/

Free party is not a crime – or is it?

Part 2 – The beginnings

As I mentioned before, the movement has been started by a sound system called Spiral Tribe. It existed in the first half of the 1990's and became active again in 2007. The group originated in London and traveled across the whole European continent and North America. From 1990 until 1992, Spiral Tribe were responsible for numerous parties in indoor and outdoor locations. Their largest and most famous party was the Castlemorton Common Festival free party in 1992. Thirteen members of the group were arrested immediately after the event and were subsequently charged with public order offences.Their trial became one of the longest and most expensive cases in British legal history, lasting four months and costing the UK £4 million. In March 1993, after being acquitted of all charges relating to Castlemorton, the collective decided to move to Europe, doing parties in cities such as Rotterdam, Paris and Berlin. Over the next few years, the collective organised parties and teknivals throughout Europe, then it slowly dispersed with some members taking up residence in Germany and Holland and releasing work on Labworks and many other techno labels. Individual members of the collective joined other sound systems, did squat art events or pursued other interests. Most of their music was released on the famous Network 23 label.

An interesting point is that the group was obsessed by the number 23. Images for musical releases, posters, backdrops and flyers featured the number 23. Parties were often organised on the twenty-third day of the month. Members sometimes recorded under the moniker of SP23, and the record label itself was called Network 23.

Problems to discuss:

1. Do you think that the court should have penalized Spiral Tribe's activity ?

2. Why did the country try to fight the movement? Share your opinion.

Life choices

Most of us tries to live a regular life and stick to the scheme. We create relationships or even families with children. Each one of us has a couple of people around who are more or less important for us. We spend time with them, tell them our secrets, but sometimes also argue. The truth is that we do not realise how much we care until we lose somebody.

A couple of days ago I watched the movie called "The Next Three Days". The polish title of the movie fits even more to the topic I want to discuss with you: "Dla niej wszystko". The movie is about "a married couple" whose "life is turned upside down when the wife is accused of a murder" (via IMDb). They are a happy family - John (Russell Crowe), a college teacher, his wife Lara (Elizabeth Banks) and their son Luke (Toby Green, Tyler Green, Ty Simpkins). They live a normal life until Lara "is accused of a murder" (via IMDb). In one moment everything changes by 180 degrees. John has to take care of his son and manage his job. His parents are some kind of help for him, but it is getting worse anyway. He loses any appeal in court and from day to day, from month to month he is also losing hope to rescue his wife from jail. The only way for him is to drop everything and save what he love. From this moment a regular college teacher starts to create a perfect plan to get his wife out of jail and bring his family together, again.

How far would you go and "what if you had 72 hours to save everything you live for" (via IMDb)?

Free party is not a crime – or is it?

Part 1 – The movement

Freetekno is a relatively new cultural movement present in Europe and North America. It has been started in the early 1990's in the United Kingdom by a sound system called Spiral Tribe. The most crucial mission of the movement is to organize free parties in the so-called Temporary Autonomous Zones (TAZ). Those parties are free from any restrictions that are present in the legal club scene. Moreover, people usually do not pay any entrance fee as making profit is not the aim of such parties.
The sound system is, literally, a wall of speakers. Behind the wall, the sound system crew places all pieces of equipment needed to run the sound (decks, cd players, mixers, equalizers and – what is most important – a power generator). In front of the sound system there are people dancing to all kinds of electronic music, usually bass heavy ones with repetitive beats. The walls are often decorated in a way which is characteristic for a given freetekno crew. Most of the freetekno decorations are black and white and include different kinds of spirals and abstract patterns.

KIEREWIET sound system (Netherlands) at the Centertek Teknival in Poland in 2009

Typically, a free party involves one sound system or more, if more – then it becomes a teknival. Such parties are often held in isolated outdoor venues (open air parties) or in abandoned buildings (these are called squat parties). Usually, there is no information on the location of the party in the Internet or elsewhere. The aim of such 'conspiracy' is to eliminate inadequate participants. This culture is not only about attending parties; it is more of a life style where trust and respect are the key elements. The atmosphere is friendly and the party goers police themselves. Racism, sexism and aggression are not tolerated. Different people can be met at free parties – from punks, through ravers, to college students and adult people with their families. Anarchist and liberal philosophies, as well as fighting for animal rights and vegetarianism are said to be the most popular among freetekno people. What is more, freetekno is a culture of the travellers. Party people and sound systems drive long distances in the Summer to attend parties in different countries across the whole continent.

Problems to discuss:

1. Would you call freetekno a culture or just a short-lived movement?

2. What is your opinion on the music and visual elements? Do you consider them artistic?

Human health XXI century (part 3)

At the end let's overthrow of a few myths.

Water. How much should drink one person?

In the water you drink does not provide any electrolytes, so the body is forced to retrieve them from storage tissue, which in combination with an equally idiotic using of table salt prohibition are shrinking rapidly. This way your body flushes out the maintain homeostasis ingredients mainly sodium, potassium and magnesium. Natural medicine and doctors recommendations to drink as much as possible, even 3l water on a day but in the nature any creature does not act in this way – don't drink like in the instructions but only when thirsty. So this health ordinances are very stupid. It would be a better feeling - the illusion of health. Well, when blood is diluted by water, we get the low levels of toxins circulating in it, so we are feeling better. Patients is enough to believe in those stupid recommendations.

Fever

Fever is often called as natural recovery process. It is characterized by increasing body temperature which also speeds up metabolism. This process accelerates the excretion, which is also faster removal of toxins from the body. In addition, white blood cells, which are designed to neutralize and destroy toxic substances, are stimulated to work faster.

Hippocrates recognized attributes of a fever, writing more than 2,300 years ago: "Give me fever, and I can cure your patient". Although high fever in children may be worrying, in the human brain is the mechanism that regulates and controls height. It ensures safety of the body.

Preservatives on the body effecting
We talk a lot about dangers of preservatives, but for some reason ignores important fact that the preservatives as well as other toxic substances, they are harmful not if they are eaten, but when are penetrated into the body in excess of the possibility of their expulsion, and contributing to total poisoning of the body, known as toxins.

Recently published papers: "We are what we eat", and if so - all eaten substances are using to build our bodies. It is difficult for more nonsense! Our body gets from food eaten only those substances that it needs. Our body gets from food eaten only those substances that it needs. If you compare the amount of stool to the amount of food eaten, you will understand that your body takes only a small quantity of the substance from food.

If preservatives are not needed for the body to anything, why would they absorb? We see what is nonsense. However, this doesn't mean that eating foods containing preservatives is harmless for our body. Preservatives are usually artificial chemicals, enough aggressive to damage cells of digestive tract.

Questions:
  1. How many and what kind of fluid you drink during the day? Do you think this is healthy?
  2. After reading the paragraph about the fever, are you'll still be trying to get rid it during disease?
  3. Are you aware how many preservatives and processing aids have certain foods? Do you pay attention to the composition of the product when shopping?

Human health XXI century (part 2)

Bioslone's idea promoting discovered by Hippocrates knowledge about health which is alternative for diseases. If you take care of health – avoid diseases, if fight with diseases – we are falling into deeper them. Toxins cause diseases and to prevent them, body tries remove toxins by pathogenic germs and parasites. Body puryfing causes symptoms, which are wrongly called as diseases, but they really prevent and treat diseases. If you are still struggled with symptoms of body puryfing by fighting with the participants of this process - the germs and parasites – you would increase the amount of toxins what consequently will irreversibly damage vital organs. And it's disease! Our role is to do nothing, because only then the disease will give us health. We cannot treat infectious diseases for a better mood because they eliminate the symptoms. The idea is body's natural immunity strengthen by providing essential nutrients to your stomach and then body will be able to remove toxins.

People from Bioslone.pl likes Puryfing Mixture. What is it? It's not a panaceum because it doesn't treat diseases but prevent them. How? The reason of all diseases are toxins, mainly penetrating into the body from the digestive tract by intestinal leakage. And this is the main task of Puryfing Mixture - the systematic elimination of erosions.

In the process of recovery, as well as prophylactic, the body needs a lot of vitamins and minerals. Meanwhile, also at a sufficient supply of food, there is a general shortage of these substances. It is caused by blocking the absorption of these substances in the digestive tract what is caused by deposits. And this is the second task of Puryfing Mixture - the systematic treatment of the digestive tract.

We are the descendants of ancestors.

Biosłone are saying we should eat everything what our body needs and it's not about different types of diets. They believe that the principles of a healthy diet are based not on scientific findings, but are continuation of ancestors' diet, including the adaptation to climatic conditions and regional culinary traditions. Avoiding processed foods full of preservatives and dyes. Balancing carbohydrates, proteins and fats, food rich in vitamin filled fruits and vegetables.

Questions:
  1. Have you ever wondered where is the begin of your illness?
  2. Have you ever heard about Biosłone idea and what you think about?
  3. How looks your breakfast / lunch / dinner?
  4. Which products are you eatting to supplement vitamins in your diet?

Human health XXI century (part 1)

People often ask what exactly is most important in your life. One of us will answer that family, another say friends or money. But most of us wishes of health when celebrating some festival. That's because when we are healthy, full of energy and ideas that somehow everything comes easier when we are looking solution for heavy situations.

What is health? Contrary to belief many of us it's not just absence of disease and is defined as "Good physical and mental state. State when functions of living organism run correctly." Human health is affected by many factors. Look at the chart:

Lifestyle - diet and physical activity are one of the few factors under our control. We can't change environmental conditions and genes, but we deciding what gets into our stomach.

Knowledge in this publication is mainly used from bioslone.pl community. They are people whose idea is health which is called as acquisition of natural immunity for acquisition of disease resistance by ail and elimination causes of all diseases. They aren't interested in medical perceptions of health - treatment of symptoms or issuing of prescriptions. Rather, they provide knowledge of what any doctor will say and you can't read in any medical book - about health. They believe that illness is a process which getting rid of toxins from the body. Symptoms are the body's natural protection. We call them as diseases, but in fact they treat the disease. All diseases have a single cause, but appear in different ways depending on the place where they are.

This knowledge was hidden from the public more than two thousand years ago, but allows for the expected health effects, which are not the result of medical procedures, but by expulsion diseases from the body through health-oriented activities, such as: Puryfing Mixture, principles of healthy eating, Cocktail With Cellulose, and special diet if it's needed. If you are wondering what they have in mind that I invite you to read the second part of this publication - soon.

Questions:
  1. What is your health for you? Do you consider yourself as healthy person?
  2. How can you affect on your health negatively and positively?
  3. What can you change in your life to health care?
  4. Have you ever consider the drugs from a doctor or always trust your doctor and take everything you received?

Smolensk - accident or assassination?

The initial reasoning doesn’t allow me to debar any version of this tragic event, so I can’t debar also the option of an accident and I can’t rule out the assassination, a planned action -as the media-. Media seem to target only the version of the accident, and the so-called warning against drawing hasty conclusions. So what? Don’t even put the question of whether the disaster couldn’t be planned the action? Maybe the question bother somebody? It offends someone? If not, it certainly offends common sense. But sense don’t afraid to question and as someone pointed out rightly, there are no stupid questions, may be only stupid answers. In this case, less of wisdom and folly* - important, that the answers are true.
Not assuming for a moment version of the accident, let's see if would be someone, who rejoice with this tragedy?

Can it be useful to anyone for anything immediate disappearance from public life several dozen group of people deciding on key issues Polish - defense, financial policy, national memory, etc.? Who could have in this business? Polish people, Polish patriots, or perhaps those to whom the existence of Polish bother?

If they want eliminate from the political life of large amounts of people uncomfortable at the same time, located at the same time on a small area, away from the possibility of quickly provide effective relief, whether it would be best not to do it in an aircraft?
Is it normal that the plane that crashed was under Russian control of the technical and passed the last review in Samara (Russia)? Is the safety of heads of state, Polish political elites should be at the time of stay in the air in the hands of Russian technicians?

Whether Russian special services, if they want, would have the technical ability to share organizing attacks, or may not be able to do something like this, to plan and execute? In which territory would be easier to organize such an action, only to fully control it (avoid the press, placing a land militia, not to grant interviews, etc.) - for another, or on your own?
If somebody wants to cripple, incapacitate an organized community, the State, which group will be eliminate first, the social? Ordinary gray citizens who may, at most, to vote in elections once every few years or maybe those who every day take many decisions, which determine the fate of the whole community? And who, during the Second World War the Germans and the Soviets murdered and deported to concentration camps in the first place, or sometimes not officers, professors, clergy, people in power? Are not those his authority, in word and attitude have an impact on the entire nation, would be able to pull it towards independence? If I want to kill somebody, then cut his arm, heel, or maybe your head? Has anyone heard of the so-called cutting of heads of the nation (Germany did it in Auschwitz, Dachau, Stutth
of, and the Soviets at Katyn, Kharkov, Mednove etc.)?

I think it wasn’t the case. First you need to ask yourself:
For what kind of Kaczynski hasn’t been invited on the same day as the Tusk? Why Putin wanted to split them?

It certainly wasn’t the case. How is it possible that the pil
ot, 2km from the airport was at the height of the trees!? It was the fog (and it's not so big), Polish plane full of VIPs.... and someone took advantage of the opportunity. Pilot landed just as he gave to the airport. Apparently, the light from the runway where set in the woods. The stories of witnesses shows that the pilot trying to pick up yet. So when he was low enough to see, that it wasn’t the airport (gave wrong parameters) tried to salvage the situation. Unfortunately ... I also heard from witness, that he heard two explosions - one lesser, second greater-could also be the case that the pilot realized that there isn’t the landing and try to escape, but the Russians shot yet down because it would be stupidity releasing them) And now all deal with the Russian service nobody commit to the scene. Isn’t it strange? They have a “black box” and they can do what they want. And probably it will be the pilot foult, because he can’t no longer defend himself... not the man who advise him.

I think it was attempt, why they don’t let the Polish jurnalists immediatly after the split. Why they put gun to jurnalists head, why nobody speak about it no longer, why similar threads are removed from the forums? I wasn’t supporter of L. Kaczynski, but he was patriot, who spoke the truth about Russia, and took a penalty, for which was he awarded in Georgia as a national hero! International news talked about the accident based on the Russian media and knowing, that the investigation is also Russian. Russia depends on the fact that the mob thought it was an accident, and Poland is too weak to say anything or accuse Russia.

As for me, too much cases here.

Designer Drugs

The New Poland Express I Friday 15th October 2010 I www.nwe.pl

Designer drugs fan to lobby cause

Friends and colleagues of Dawid Bratko, Poland’s so-called ‘Designer Drugs King’, are set to lobby in parliament in favour of legalizing designer drugs. “I want to help protect the freedoms and the rights of ordinary people who are addicted to psychotropic substances,” says Tomasz Obara of Poland’s ‘Free Hemp’ movement - an organisation aimed at promoting the legalisation of cannabis. But Obara, who has already officially registered as a lobbyist in Parliament, adds that he is also taking part in order to represent his mother who, he claims, is a constant victim of police harassment. “Police officers keep raiding my mother’s house in order to look for cannabis. That’s one of the reasons why I want to protect my mother’s interests.” However, while actively confirming that he is still lobbying on behalf of Bratko’s cause, Obara claims that he is in fact anti-designer drugs.
“I’m against designer drugs but I signed an agreement with [Bratko] that if we manage to persuade the authorities to legalise cannabis, then he will stop trading them.” Designer drugs, known in Poland as ‘dopalacze’ have made the headlines recently due to a fierce government clampdown on the booming sector which has seen around 900 shops closed down. Last week Bratko, dubbed ‘the Designer Drug King’ by the nation’s media for his large influence throughout the industry, was arrested for selling a number of proscribed substances. Despite a number of fatalities being linked to the new craze, numerous loopholes have kept the government’s hands tied. However it stated recently that it would try to push through legislation quickly in order to deal with what it sees as a growing problem.

What do you think of the whole campaign against designer drugs?
Is it just a part of political campaign?
Statistics say that in Poland more people day because of alcohol abuse than designer drugs but the media just do not talk about it.
Present your opinions please.

Why ordinary people do evil...or do good?

Watch also a very interesting talk of Philip Zimbardo and comment on it.

Stanford Prison Experiment

Have you heard of Stanford Prison Experiment?
I would like you to go through the description of it and then discuss the following questions. Moreover, watch the short films that discuss it.

Go to http://www.prisonexp.org/psychology/1
The questions:
1. What police procedures are used during arrests, and how do these procedures lead people to feel confused, fearful, and dehumanized?
2. If you were a guard, what type of guard would you have become? How sure are you?
3. What prevented "good guards" from objecting or countermanding the orders from tough or bad guards?
4. If you were a prisoner, would you have been able to endure the experience? What would you have done differently than those subjects did? If you were imprisoned in a "real" prison for five years or more, could you take it?
5. Why did our prisoners try to work within the arbitrary prison system to effect a change in it (e.g., setting up a Grievance Committee), rather than trying to dismantle or change the system through outside help?
6. What factors would lead prisoners to attribute guard brutality to the guards' disposition or character, rather than to the situation?
7. What is "reality" in a prison setting? This study is one in which an illusion of imprisonment was created, but when do illusions become real? Contrast consensual reality and physical or biological reality, and explain the implications of the following poem (by PGZ): Within the illusion of life,
Death is the only reality,
but
is Reality the only death?
Within the reality of imprisonment,
Illusion is the only freedom,
but
is Freedom the only illusion?
8. What is identity? Is there a core to your self-identity independent of how others define you? How difficult would it be to remake any given person into someone with a new identity?
9. Do you think that kids from an urban working class environment would have broken down emotionally in the same way as did our middle-class prisoners? Why? What about women?
10. After the study, how do you think the prisoners and guards felt when they saw each other in the same civilian clothes again and saw their prison reconverted to a basement laboratory hallway?
11. Moving beyond physical prisons built of steel and concrete, what psychological prisons do we create for ourselves and others? If prisons are seen as forms of control which limit individual freedom, how do they differ from the prisons we create through racism, sexism, ageism, poverty, and other social institutions? Extend your discussion to focus on:
* The illusion of prison created in marriages where one spouse becomes "guard" and the other becomes "prisoner"
* The illusion of prison created in neurosis where one aspect of the person becomes the prisoner who is told he/she is inadequate and hopeless, while another aspect serves as a personal guard
* The silent prison of shyness, in which the shy person is simultaneously his or her own guard and prisoner
12. Was it ethical to do this study? Was it right to trade the suffering experienced by participants for the knowledge gained by the research? (The experimenters did not take this issue lightly, although the Slide Show may sound somewhat matter-of-fact about the events and experiences that occurred).
13. How do the ethical dilemmas is this research compare with the ethical issues raised by Stanley Milgram's obedience experiments? Would it be better if these studies had never been done?
14. If you were the experimenter in charge, would you have done this study? Would you have terminated it earlier? Would you have conducted a follow-up study?
15. How can we change our real institutions, such as Attica Prison, when they are designed to resist critical evaluation and operate in relative secrecy from taxpayers and legislators?
16. Knowing what this research says about the power of prison situations to have a corrosive effect on human nature, what recommendations would you make about changing the correctional system in your country?
