How to spend summer in Warsaw - Part 2

Hello again...
Last time I was talking about bike trips. Today I would like to tell you how you can spend summer weekend outdoors. Surprisingly there are many interesting places, in Warsaw, to spend free time outdoors.

Firstly, I would like to tell you what to do when it is very hot outside. The best way is jump in water. So where we can find any
outdoor swimming pool or lake? If you have time you can go on Zalew Zegrzyński. It is about 30km from center of warsaw and it is possible to go there by bus.

If you are looking somethink closer, I would recommend you to try park wodny moczydło.
This is a very large area with two swimming pools, where you can spend all day sunbathing and swimming. Also on site there are playing fields and bars with food. But it is better to prepare food yourself.

Secondly, I would like to recommend you a great place for spending whole day. This place is Warsaw zoo. I was there many times, and everytime i enjoy it very much. I think that anyone can afford price for ticket. For students it is 12zł. If you are still not encouraged you, just see Warsaw zoo home page: http://www.zoo.waw.pl/
You can find there live cam's, virtual tour, movies and galleries.

Finally, I will tell you about few nice places to go for a walk.
For a nice walk in the fresh air, I can recommend you to visit the "Łazienki" park. Near town center you can take a walk on Old Town or "Pola Mokotowskie" where you can find many pub's, in which you can drink cold beer at open air. Unfortunately, the prices are quite expensive :(

Could you recommend other outdoor swimming pools ?
Have you ever been in Warsaw Zoo, if so, whether you like it?
Do you know some good places to drink beer at open air ?

  1. Oh my, water park :D I'd love to try this!
As for our zoo, it's wonderful place, I visit it each year with friends, my fiance or family, just perfect place, but as for every coll places it has some disadvantages like being overcrowded :( Sometimes is so hard to keep calm beeing surrounded by thousands kids and their mommies. When weather is good and sun shines you won't be able to find a day in zoo without kids.
About spending free time in Warsaw I can recommend with full responsibility line park. I was in this one: http://www.park-linowy-bielany.pl/ and I spend my time really nice, it's better to go with a friend cause it's more fun that way:)
As for swimming pools I've heard about Wesolandia and Aquapark, but I've never been there so I can't say it's good or not, but looks cool.
You can also spend time on go-karts on Wola, but I was there few years ago and lately I heard something about closing this object, so I'm not sure if it's actual.
I can just say that Warsaw is trying it's best to attract not only turists but also it's inhabitants.

  2. Unfortunately I don't know any outdoor swimming pools in warsaw cos I have never gone swimming in this kind of place. I prefer swimmingpools under the roof. In this case water is more clear and safety for us.
I was in Warsaw's Zoo when I was a child so I don't remember to much. I know that this place has specific climat because of all the animals. It is really interesting place and maybe I will go in near feature one more time.
Similar like in first paragraph I don't know such place because I don't like beer so I don't interest this place. I have never looked for them. I prefer nice restaurants with climatization, good food.

  3. I was at the lake Zegrzyńskie about one year ago on vacation. As for me, too many people. Back to home about 2 hours and even if is only 30km!!! More to I recommend would be a visiting this place in May-June. It is definitely less people, and you can safely take in the beauty of the lake. I prefer to go at the weekend on the lake Chańcza. Located about 50 km from my own hometown. It is definitely less people, and you can relax from everyday life.

Zoo visit once every year. I agree with you - "everytime I enjoy it very much. " It's nice to feel like a little child and watch and fatten animals. Every time I feel like I was there the first time. :)

  4. If it comes to outdoor swimming pools I personally wouldn't recommend Zalew Zegrzynski ;) I've been there couple of times, but mainly just to get out of the city and have a good time during the weekend. But the water wasn't definitely the main reason to go there! ;) It was just disgusting... Please, don't ask me to explain why, let me just say it looked pretty dirty.

A good place to drink beer at open air? Well :) Open air!

  5. I have no idea where we can find outdoor swimming pool near to Warsaw. But for weekend I can recommend a place Borki it's about 120km from Warsaw http://www.borki.pl/. There is Zalew Sulejowski where you can rent a boat, learn windsurfing and have relax on the beach and park as well where you can ride a bike.
I haven't been in Warsaw Zoo so I can't say anything what I like in this Zoo.
I can recommend one place in Wilanów where you can have cold beer at open air, bar is close to streets: F.Klimaczaka and Przyczółkowa.

  6. I have been at Warsaw Zoo at least two times. It is really great. I saw there for the first time hippo and rhino - great animals. I liked also gorillas which where having fun outside (there were not kept in a cage) - they have quite big area to move on the fresh air.
I live near to Pola Mokotowskie so I visit it quite often. Maybe beer at pubs are quite expensive, but you can always buy beer at shop and drink it on the fresh air (maybe a bit illegal - but a lot of people do it and I do not know who has problem with it).
I have been last time on the boat sailing across Wisła (those one from ztm). They are quite expensive (no student discount) but it was something new.

  7. I have my own outdoor swimming pool in my garden so I'm not even looking for one but I'd pick park moczydło in any other case.

I've been several times in Warsaw Zoo and I liked it every single time. Ditital photography is my hobby and zoo is a great place to shoot some awesome photos! In my opinion any zoo isn't the best place to be when it's extremely hot outside. Apart from the temperature the smell isn't too appealing...

The best and safest place to drink cold beer is your own garden. If you lack one or want to visit some other place pubs at Pola Mokotowskie or Powsin are a good choice. Drinking beer in public places outside a pub can be risky and costly but you can always visit a forrest where the odds are much smaller :)

  8. I'm not a fan of swimming pools and I rarely go to any of them, especially outdoor ones. I prefer natural lakes.

I have been in Warsaw Zoo a few times, even though the last time was a few years ago, I remember that I enjoyed it.

If it comes to places where you can spend time sitting and drinking beer outdoors, I like the vicinity of parks, especially Pola Mokotowskie. However, when the temperatures reach over around 25 degrees, sitting in the sun becomes rather tiring, I prefer air conditioned closed rooms then.

  9. I have never been in this water park, but I really want to visit it. I like to swim and spending hot days in water :) I don't know any other outdoor swimming pools in Warsaw, but it is a good idea to look for them.

I was in a Warsaw ZOO once and it was very interesting time. Some animals I saw for the first time live. It is true that trip to the ZOO can take the whole day. There is so many interesting animals and also places when we an sit and eat something. I recommend this place for all, but especially for children.

I don't like to drink beer at open air, so I don't know such places.

  10. Oh thank you about informations about "park wodny moczydło" I never was there before, so maybe I'll be here with my friends if it'll be a very hot day ;)

I was so many times at Warsaw Zoo and I've enjoyed it with my hard hearing friends, it was very fun day even though it was raining ;)

I know some places to drink beer at open air at Nowy Świat or Old City, but there is expensive, so I recommended to buy beer and go to friend's place which room have a air conditioned ;)

  11. Yes, I like cycling. When I lived in Ursynow often traveled to Powsin. It is a place near Warsaw, where it easily reachable and is a lot routes. However, in the resort in Powsin, if I remember it was you can not ride a bike. It was annoying. As about drinking beer is a recall that it is forbidden when cycling.
The route I can recommend is a military training ground in Remberów. There are a lot of interesting places and it is nice and quiet. For people like me that move along the asphalt, I suggest a trip to Nieporęt, the beaches over Zalew Zegrzynski.

  12. There are outdoor swimming pool in Powsin, another one is in 'OSiR' on inflancka street, there are even small swimming pool on one of Wisła shores! I think the best one is in Powsin and for the summer. On Warszawaianka swimming pool there is small outdoor pool but it's best in winter when you swimm and see the snow around you :D
I was in Warsaw Zoo many times. I always liked feeding elephants, it's real funny to watch them while eating and how efficient they use their noses. I remeber enormous stink in hippo cage ;D But our Zoo is small one, if enyone will be in Edinburgh I recomend their Zoo. It's really big, a whole day still could be not enough to see everything in there.
About the last question it's hard to say. If you want to drink beer in pub there are plenty of them at Pola Mokotowskie, Nowy Świat street or on Stare miasto. The question is if you want to sit in bar (even if it's at open air) or in park for example. I like to drink beer on Pole Mokotowskie or on Podzamcze. It's best on sundays while watchin 'Grające Fontanny' ;D

  13. I do sometimes go at Zalew Zegrzyński, few of my friends sail, so we do have fun there.
Unfortunately I can't recommend any outdoor swimming pool as I don't really like going to places like Park Wodny Moczydło, as they are often overcrowded. Zoo on the other hand even if overcrowded is one of the ways I like to spend my free time. I enjoy just walking around the zoo, watching animals even though it can be tiring when it's too hot. As for the places where you can drink outside there are really a lot places like that in Warsaw. At the Vistula riverside there are few places, my personal favorite is Cud nad Wisłą, next to BUW. There are of course other places like Warszawa Powiślie, Plac Zabaw or 5,10,15 not at the riverside though but still very good places to chill.

  14. I can't recommend any outdoor swimming pools, but I can safely say that Zalew Zegrzynski is quite a nice place - provided that you like windsurfing or yachting.

I've been to Warsaw Zoo couple of times but the last time must have been around 10 years ago :) As far as I can remember I liked it a lot!

Drinking brear outside is the only wise choice for me :) If the weather is fine, I always prefer to stay outside. It's a habit that I've developed when I was living in London. People are accustomed to having a beer outside pubs, on the pavement. Nobody moans that there are no chairs or tables outside :)
