Last part is dedicated to Sandomierz located 15 km from my home town Tarnobrzeg.

Exactly one year ago was laud about this city because of flood. Most of right side located areas were waterlogged. Fortunately, historic part od city is located away from vulnerable areas. Sanomierz is compare to Kazimierz Wielki. For me those two places have another atmosphere. Maybe because I have been there so many times Sandomierz associate with a exchange car and vegetables markt. Who goes there for the first time will impress for sure intimate, small Square.

From the old town, you can also enjoy the beautiful view of the Vistula. Although the Sandomierz there are few places where you can eat is definitely worth to visit the restaurant called Ciżemka and taste delicious cake.
For those who follow the fate of Father Matthew is known for sure that the movie is mostly filmed here. For sure this is another asset.

Sandomierz also boasts a museum on the slope where we can find the exhibition from various areas. It's also a place of many school trips. Before the museum is located in the square from which you can see tourist sites of the the Vistula -Błonie. Our pope Jan Pawel II celebrate mass during his visit in Sandomierz.

In Sandomierz can also study for a widely popular, university - UMCS. For many of my friends was able to obtain a diploma near their home town.
Sandomierz ending series of places that I think are attractive to tourists. I hope that encouraged you to visit even though one of them.
Also this is a chance for you to encourage me, and your colleagues to visit your family or your favorite corners.
Agree with the statement that we do not appreciate our native regions? What can we do to make them more attractive?
I just want to thank you in advance for all comments :)
Sandomierz is also near my home town (about 60 km). I was there last year after this flood. There was and exhibition of photograpies at the town square showing this disaster. I have also walked through underground tunnel, and I remeber that I saw there Dorota Gardias from tvn meteo ;P (btw she looks really nice just like in Tv).
ReplyDeleteDid you know (or maybe you remember) that one episode of father matteo was made at PJWSTK ;)
Sounds like a nice town but a bit too far away for a one day trip. Good to know that the old parts survived last years flood.
ReplyDeleteI might visit Sandomierz some day.
I agree that we not appreciate out native regions because we know them very well and they seem qute normal to us. What we can do is write about them here for example. Blogspot is positioned very nicely by Google crawlers.
It is hard to say. Everyone likes something else. I like the most our Polish Masuria and mountains. In summer I prefer Mikolajki in Masuria because there is my favourite hotel Golebiewski. In winter I like go to Zakopane to spend there a New Year. I like also skiing and this is another reason why I like our mountains. Of course everyone likes diffrent place. My family like the most Bieszczady. They like go for a walk in the forest. When I was in Bieszczady it was so boring for me that i say i will never go there any more. I like to rest effectively, do some sports. So for me our Masuria when you can swimm on yachts or our Mountains when you can skiing are the most attracive place for rest.
ReplyDeleteI've never been to Sandomierz, but I don't really think "Father Matthew"... is a good way of advertising the region... ;)
ReplyDeleteAnyway, after I saw the photos of the old towns square I can honestly say that Sadnomierz looks just beautiful! I think I can even say that I can put it on my list of towns to see!
Additionally I fully agree with the statement that we don't apreciate the beauty of our country regions. The best example is Sandomierz itself...
It's pretty sad that we can manage to find the time to travel to Paris, Rome or Wien just for a weekend but we are not able to mobilize, get into the car and drive a silly hundred of kilometers to see places like Kazimierz or Sandomierz.
"Cudze chwalicie swego nie znacie" just as the poet said once.
Another classic Polish town which speaks it's own tale. I have never been there, but it seems to be a nice continuation after Kazimierz Dolny. What I really like is the specific, very calm feeling (at least from what may be seen in the photos) of a rather small town.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Michał K., I bet this serial is not good advertisement for the town.
ReplyDeletePersonally I haven't been there and somehow I don't feel a need to travel there. I only know one person from Sandomierz who was really rude to me and didn't leave positive impression on me. I know I shouldn't judge city by one person, but it just works like that. Fortunately I drive across Sandomierz sometimes and it looks quite good.
You're from Tarnobrzeg?! I've some part from my family here! :D It's nice to see someone else from this city :)
ReplyDeleteBut back to topic, I was there for one day when I was at family's trip to Tarnobrzeg to visit part of family from my dad's site. I really liked Sandomierz, because I really like some old and colorfull buildings. It was a great place for photo shot.
I knew that serie "Father Matthew" was shotting here, but I don't know if you remeber that a part from some episode was shot at our studys parking ;) It was a big shock for me and a chance to see how the episode could be filmed :)
I wish to visit Sandomierz someday. On photos look it's a city attractive to tourists. I appreciate our native regions, I like to go on seaside or mountains and I'm happy that we have places when we can rest from noise and crowds of people. The most attractive in Poland are roads and traffic jams;)
ReplyDeleteSandomierz, is without a doubt a wonderful place. I had opportunity to to be there many times . Every time I was impressed by the prevailing climate there.
ReplyDeleteThis town makes as to move in a different world. In particular, if every day we live in a big city, this city gives us the opportunity to escape from the daily rush, the stench of exhaust, noise and responsibilities.
You can go there with beautiful streets, reaching the great market, passing by a lot of amazing buildings in terms of architecture and history. For these, we can certainly include the town hall, castle, Opatowska Gate, the Cathedral, the cathedral bell tower, the Dlugosz house and could write so long.
Moreover, the surrounding areas offer you the chance to super bike ride and explore nearby places, which are equally amazing and worthy of attention.
Certainly, this city is highly recommended for tourists, unless they absolutely are not interested in visiting the historic Polish city, which are undoubtedly beautiful.
I have never been in Sandomierz, but I heard that it is very beautiful town and has a historical climate. Looking at the photos I can say I would like to visit or even live in town like this.
ReplyDeleteAbout your questions. I disagree with the statement that we do not appreciate our native regions. I come from Bialystok and I am very proud of my town and its development during last ten years. I always encourage my friends to visit Bialystok. There is charming, newly renovated old town, lots of cultural events and beautiful scenery around the city. Although there is many interesting places where everyone can take learn some about other cultures (like Tatars or Belorussians). We have our own 'Woodstock festival' called Basowiszcza (mostly with byelorussian music).
I invite you all to Bialystok :))
I've never been to Sandomierz. I probably will visit it someday as I am planning on seeing as much of our country as possible. I agree that people don't often appreciate our native regions. I think it might be a fault of often not realizing that there are so many places worth visiting in Poland. Maybe on school trips people should travel to more unique places not only to Zakopane or Krakow. That could trigger a desire to discover our country on our own. On the other hand, leave some places alone - the magic of the place is made also by being not very crowdy.
ReplyDeleteAs for my knowledge on Sandomierz, I only know that some series have been filmed in our school making it impossible for me to enter the building without the consent of the filmmakers.
I have never been in Sandomerz. From yours description it looks like worth of visiting. The first photo looks very nice. If I would be in neighbourhood, I will definitly visit it.
ReplyDeleteAbout encouraging you to visit my home town...
I'am from Warsaw, so you probably know it very well :D
