Environmental Pollution - Part 2

How to help save our planet?

As pollution is almost ubiquitous in today's world, many environmentally conscious individuals endeavor to lessen human impact on nature. Making wise lifestyle choices is of immense importance as little effort is needed to make our world a better place for everyone.

Adopting smart driving habits to reduce car gas emissions is a good start. An individual may become more eco-friendly by accelerating gradually or obeying speed limits. Riding public transport or a bike is equal to reducing pollution!

Recycling takes little effort and helps protect the planet through conservation of natural resources. One can also save money and energy by printing and photocopying on both sides of the paper; recycling paper, plastics, magazines and aluminum cans, or choosing products with recyclable packaging. Dead batteries and cell phones can also be recycled.

Increasing vegetable and fruit intake to at least 5 portions a day could reduce the risk of cancer, coronary heart disease and stroke. However, eating less meat can also be beneficial to the environment. The fact is that raising animals for food contributes to global warming due to heavy gas emissions during production.

Saying ‘no’ to plastic bags which are used and discarded every minute in every corner of the world is highly appreciated. Especially that there is a better alternative of switching to reusable shopping bags.

Saving energy is an easy task. It is enough to switch off the lights when leaving the room; purchasing a smaller home, which means less energy used or driving smaller compact cars, which are cheaper. Getting insulation will definitely lower homeheating bills, whereas using fluorescent light bulbs is more energy efficient and less expensive than the traditional bulbs.

Raising people’s awareness of environmental concerns can lessen human impact on nature. Simple steps can already make a difference.

Interesting facts about pollution:

In United states they produce 30 bilion foam cups, 220 million tires, 1,8 billion disposable diapers every year

More than 4/5 of items in landfills can be recycled, but they are not.

Almost half of America's rivers and lakes are too contaminated for swimming, fishing or aquatic life.

In U.S. Almost 41% of all insecticides are used on corn. More than 80% of these are used to treat a pest that could be controlled by planting different crop every year.

Eeach American produces over 3,285 pounds of hazardous waste every year.

Large hog farms emit hydrogen sulfide, this kind of gas, often causes flu-like symptoms in humans, but sometimes can cause brain damage, especially at high concentration of this gas.

Half of the world's population has to deal with problem of drinking polluted waters. Each year there are almost 250 million cases of water-based diseases, 2-5% of them resulting in deaths.

The public transportation pollutes more our environment than private cars, simply it is a wreck. That's why the U.S. Promotes and invest inprivate car travel rather than public.

Every day more than 50 species of animals and plants become extinct because of human influence.

Americans consume more than 850 million trees annually, using 50 tons of paper every year.

  1. It's more than scary that there is so much plastic out there. Oceans are full of that. Birds see something flashy on the water surface and try to eat that thinking it's fish. More and more birds are found dead with plastic in their stomach. Same thing refers to big fish trying to eat that.

  2. I think you tell everything. What I do to save the earth? I'm trying to rubbish. I try ride public transport, not a car. I use paper bags. At the moment, nothing more to me does not come, but I really try to live ecologically. I use energy saving bulbs.

  3. I'm not doing a lot to be honest, but I'm driving an environmentally friendly car. In comparison to other cars it consumes only 3 litres (0.66 gallons) of oil per 100 kilometers. It also produces only 81 g of CO2 per kilometer.

  4. To safe the earth I'm trying to limit electricity and sleep when is night and work when is day. I segregate waste and move in city by public transport and bicycle. I never leave any rubbish on footpath, street or in forest.

  5. I'm trying to separate waste and use multiple usage packaging materials. I never throw any junk on street, always look for a bin. I also try to save energy and water at home but it's not always possible.

  6. I'm not doing anything extraordinary to "save the earth":) I just try to sort my rubbish, turn off water during brushing teeth:) and I have shifted to reusable bags. As for driving my car - I do it ecologically because it's just more economical:)

  7. If we want to change the world, we have to start with our own closest environment. For example, I never throw garbage in the street, I segregate garbage at home and I try to limit the use of water and gas to the smallest extent possible. I have elaborated more on the topic below the first part of your presentation.

  8. I am not very interested in the subject of pollution of land and I believe that a man can not stop natural processes. even if we would like to save the lands, we are too weak in order to do anything what would solve the problem.
