Old new sense - part I

In my articles I wanted to write about something controversial to make you easier to give your opinions. I've chosen something that is commonly found paranormal - telepathy. Today I give you some examples that show that for some people it's just natural. Next days I will show how it is treated by the scientists.

First I want to mention a story that happened to American psychologists which travelled across the Australia with the Aborigine tribe. During the walk in one moment the tribe leader stopped because he was certain that hunter which he had sent for food was trying to communicate with him. After the moment the leader asked the rest of group if the hunter can remove a tail of hunted kangaroo because it weights too heavy - they agreed and after several hours they met him with the animal - of course without tail. It was completely natural to them. Aborigines claimed that they had contacted even with animals "saying" sorry that they had to kill them for the food - thanks to that animals didn't run from them, which was very strange for the scientist.
That psychologists described those stories in best-selling book called "Mutant Message Down Under", she states the book is based on real experiences but publisher marked it as fiction.

Next controversial example is from closer country - Russia (USSR then). It was commonly known that Stalin had been appreciating (and looking for) telepathists. One who he found was Polish Jew Wolf Messing - then he made him KGB officer. There was one case described in Russian periodical called "Technology and Science" when he managed to influence mentally Czech chess-master during the match with Russian player. He was starting every match like real master but he was finishing like an amateur. Of course he has lost the whole game. He didn't know why it had happened but after several years he read this article in "TaS".
There was much more cases when KGB officers was interfering into the chess matches - one of them even had escaped to USA with documents describing those experiments.

Similar case you can find below:

There are a lot of strange examples of such paranormal activities which are very hard to prove but in next article I'll describe how scientist ale trying to do it and what is the prize for success.

Below I put the link to interesting flash application that can read your mind ;) Who can guess how it's happening?

Questions to discuss:
Do you think it is worth to research in scientific way or it's just a fiction?
There are voices that say that we have lost this sense because of rapid progress and civilising our society - what do you think about it?

  1. Recently I heard from my lecturer some story about telepathy. He told me about a small girl who was born during II World War. After war, when she was taking a walk with her mother through the city she saw something what in fact wasn’t there. It happened in Warsaw. The girl saw a ruins, dead people, fire and smoke… She described everything very very precisely and accurately. I don’t know details but in some way it began a famous affair. Some documents and photos confirmed everything what she said. They said also that she couldn’t see it before because she was too young. It was a proof that a telepathy exist but at the same time, is really rare.

  2. 1. I think that research in scientific way are good. It's give scientists more opportunities and wider range of they work. Personally i don't belive in paranormal - telepathy. Maybe it is possible but there is no fact which convince me. Sometimes usual approach to some issues in science is not enough and then we have to look for scientific way of explain it.
    2. I don't know what to say on this topic. Although I think that our rapid style of life has influence on almost everything what we do. What more can I say?? I don't know maybe I don't understand the question??

  3. I treat this story like urban mitts. Someone sew something...

I just can say good luck with explaining it in scientific ways.
Jose Silva tried to explain it scientifically, and its quite impressive. He develop Silva Mind Control which include searching for illness heal it basically by getting into special state of mind. It sound like real witchcraft.

  4. I think that there has to be something common with Silva researches and telepathic communication. Both things are basing on some special state of mind, maybe that's point where science can't still reach...

  5. The thing with second point is that there apparently were groups of people who claimed that they were successfully communicating in such way, but technology boost forced out the need of this sense. The question was if you thing it could be true.

  6. It is not easy to have an unequivocal opinion on this topic. Those who believe in science only will try to explain it all in a scientific way. Those who think paranormal activity exists will explain everything from this perspective. I personally prefer the more scientific approach. Centuries ago people were not able to explain most phenomena that occured, and the more scientific discoveries were made, the more people understood and could explain. Nowadays, there are still some white fields on the map of science. I really prefer to think those activities classified as paranormal are still phenomena to discover.
By the way, when it comes to the link left at the end of the presentation, in my opinion it is not a mind reader but a mathematical program. If you do the calculations, you really get the image you thought of, however, whithout doing them (and with thinking of any chosen image presented there), the chosen image does not occur. So...?

  7. "The Flash Mind Reader" doesn't work for me. :)

In reference to your story about the Aborigine tribe I beleive that they are on drugs. :) In this state they probably can imagine everything. I simply don't beleive in telephaty.

  8. The Flash Mind Reader was really interesting before my little research.

Despite the fact that we get to choose from
numbers 10 to 99, there are only 9 possible.
So while there are lots of symbols provided,
    we only have to worry about 9 of them: 9 18 27 36 45 54 63 72 81.

Every outcome of the math results in a multiple of 9. Every multiple of 9 always shares the same symbol, so it is inevitable that you and the mind reader will always pick the same symbol. You're both doing the same math.
